Financial incentive – Filming Permits

40% State aid (cash rebate)

Since 2017, the Greek State has been subsidising Greek or foreign audiovisual productions of fiction, creative documentation (documentaries), animation and digital games, by refunding a cash rebate, used to cover eligible costs incurred in Greece. The amount of aid (Cash Rebate) is not taxed because it is a deduction from the production costs of the project and from July 2020 it has reached 40% of the total expenditure.

30% Tax relief

The tax incentive (Greek Tax Relief) corresponds to a tax relief of 30% of the eligible costs deducted from the net taxable income of the sponsors of the approved investment project, as derived from the income tax return, according to article 71E of Law 4172/2013.

The application is submitted through the platform of the State Aid Information System (PSKE)(www.ependyseis.gr) and the tax relief is calculated by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (IAPR), based on the respective income tax return of the beneficiaries.
